See inside one of the earliest iron-framed, fire-proof, multi-storied buildings in the world, and understand how the North Mill inspired the construction of skyscrapers.
Discover the factory system's social impact on ordinary people's lives and experience what life would have been like for a mill worker in a Strutt mill.
Our displays include a changeable exhibition space, original spinning and framework knitting machinery, the life of a Belper nail maker and the unique story of how mill employee Samuel Slater became 'Father of the American Industrial Revolution'.
The Mill also hosts a range of guided walks around the town, historical talks, craft activities, spinning demonstrations, and temporary exhibitions.
