Appledore Sails - Sailing the Estuary, Bristol Channel and beyond
Whether you have sailed before or not, come and enjoy a sail out to sea on ‘Patron’, a 31 foot ocean going yacht - 4 hour taster trips; Day sails to Lundy or Clovelly; Longer Sails - Wales, Bristol, Scillies or beyond … Or an estuary sail on ‘Jez-y-Belle’, a very pretty locally made two masted 15 foot traditional Appledore lug sail boat. - Children welcome; 2 to 4 hour estuary sails. Sightsee by motor if preferred or no wind.
This is a delightful way to enjoy seeing this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and UNESCO Biosphere. Boats are skippered by a fully qualified commercial Offshore Yachtmaster. When you book either boat you have the whole boat just to yourselves providing a unique experience for your party. Many guests wish to join in with sailing the boat, which is certainly encouraged, and training can be provided. Even young children can help sail and steer Jez-y-Belle!
Appledore Sails is competitively priced, provides an elite experience specifically for you. There are no other companies on this coast offering sailing trips. Join in with the sailing, no experience is necessary, and training if requested can be provided at no additional cost. All safety equipment, including lifejackets, is supplied.
Appledore Sails provides you with a unique adventure. We do not crowd as many people onto the boat as possible. You have the whole boat to yourselves and we can take up to four adults or two adults, three young children in Jez-y-belle, five adults in Patron. We cater for those who have never been on a sailing boat before and who would like the adventure of sailing the first time, either in the estuary or out to sea, as well as more experienced sailors who wish to experience the strong tidal conditions found in the Bristol Channel whilst discovering new ports of call and the beauty of this coast. We hope our guests will want to join in with sailing of the boat, within their abilities. Even first timers can take the tiller and pull a few ropes and young children can help sail and steer Jez-y-belle!
Appledore Sails is elite, is special and provides time and experience just for you. Trips are competitively priced and often available at short notice. We can provide gift vouchers for Christmas, those special birthdays, anniversaries, congratulations, or any other event, personalised to fit your needs. We are the only company on the North Cornwall, Devon or Somerset coast which takes people sailing.
All prices are for the boat and skipper, not per person.
You can hire Jez-y-Belle for up to four adults or two adults, three young children, though singles and couples are more than welcome - £80 for 1 ½ hours; £100 for 2 hours; £140 for 3 hours; £170 for 4 hours - toal cost for the boat and skipper, not per person
You can hire Patron for up to five adults, though singles and couples are more than welcome. Sorry we do not take young children on Patron, and you must be fit enough to climb a vertical Quay. £175 for four hours, £325 for the day, £600 two days consecutively - price for boat and skipper, not per person
