The story of our pub begins with a pig, but more about him later.

Our pub sits on top of a hill, surrounded by countryside, the sea just over the brow. We have great facilities to keep all the family entertained, free parking and lots of space for kids to explore.

At The Pig you will find delicious food and a grand selection of drinks for tipplers and non-tipplers alike. Our diners enjoy the quality of a restaurant menu with the down to earth atmosphere of a country pub.The Pig on the Hill, we believe in quality - in our food menus, in our selection of drinks, in the atmosphere of our pub.

We want to make food that tastes so good you’ll want to come back again and again! At The Pig, you will find good wholesome pub food with elements of fine dining. Having worked with some of the finest culinary talents, from Marcus Waring to Gordon Ramsay, our chefs create gastro food with real personality.

When it comes to drinks we like to cater for all tastes. You’ll find a well stocked bar, carrying local brews, fine wines and special spirits, as well as the usual favourites. Our non-alcoholic selection is just as good, with fine juices, good coffee and a selection of teas.

With a complete refurbishment, the Pig on the Hill has won plaudits for its new look design. We set about to create an environment to enjoy food and drink in. From our outdoor sun terrace and American diner window restaurant, to the cosy intimacy of our interior space and extended bar, we have the perfect atmosphere for all occasions.

We are keen players in the local community. Our games room and outdoor facilities make The Pig a great focus for local clubs and societies. With a calendar of events planned, we will also be supporting charitable causes in the area, such as the Children’s Hospice.

Cooked to order, our fresh food dishes offer a taste of the traditional with an inspirational twist. Combining the best regional produce with the choicest ingredients available we have a tasty range of signature dishes and daily specials.

Our bar is no less impressive. From exclusive wines to local ales and ciders, good quality coffee and award winning teas, we have a well stocked selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to quench the thirst and tantalise the taste buds.
Now about that pig
Saigon was a black Vietnamese pot bellied pig that used to wander a hill, many years ago, when the hill was home to a dairy farm.

Such was the beauty of the spot that the farmer decided to convert one of his cowsheds into a pub. Looking for a name, inspiration came in the form of contented old Saigon, and the Pig on the Hill opened its doors in 1990.

Over the next decade, it established itself as a favourite with locals and visitors alike thanks to its great atmosphere and tranquil location. It was also home to the original Country Life brewery, supplier of our fine local ales, Golden Pig and Old Pig.

Its namesake may be long gone (God rest his little trotters) but the pub is set for a fresh chapter in its history. An extensive refurbishment has brought this traditional country pub galloping into the new century, preparing it for the next twist in The Pig’s tail!
