At 'The Shack' we offer a combination of a traditional fishmonger, village stores and a unique rustic café, specialising in locally caught seafood, much of it from our own boats.We are situated in the old fishing village of Beesands between Torcross and historic Hallsands with superb views across Start Bay.

The Hutchings family has owned the building for nearly 40 years, using it in connection with their fishing business, firstly as the bait store and then from the mid ‘90’s as the operating centre for their business Britannia Shellfish Ltd. After 11 years this business had outgrown these premises and moved to a purpose built unit on the edge of the village. It is still run by the Hutchings’ family now.


This was when 'The Shack' was converted into the rustic cafe, takeaway, and village stores.
We can comfortably seat 25 on the outside decking area, don't worry we have an awning for those colder days and lovely heat lamps, we can even provide you with Shack blankets! On sunny days we roll the front up to let that love sea air in, relax and enjoy!!

We have a takeaway facility serving the seaside favourite - fish and chips!! amongst other delicious meals. If you can't get a table on the decking there are plenty of picnic benches opposite on the village green.
Hot and cold drinks, ice creams, and fresh crab sandwiches.

Freshly cooked crab and lobster is available to order - we just need 24hrs notice please!

We are a BYO (bring your own alcohol ; and we don't charge corkage either :) Soft drinks are available.
Bookings are advisable.

We are open Tuesday to Sunday 10am til late. Closed on Mondays except bank holidays.
