Chavenage House
Chavenage
This wonderful Elizabethan Cotswold Manor is a hidden gem. Only two families have occupied the house since Elizabeth I was on the throne. The approach is virtually as left by Edward Stephens in 1576. There is much of interest to see, including the two tapestry rooms, where it is said Cromwell slept. Chavenage has often been used for a film or TV location and at present features as Trenwith House in Poldark.
Open to the General Public, Thursday and Sunday Afternoons 2-5pm with last admission 4pm from May through September. Guided tours generally led by owner or his family.
