Spend a full day in the glorious Hertfordshire countryside exploring the monumental works of Britain’s most famous sculptor, Henry Moore. Discover a world-famous collection of sculpture, including both figurative and abstract works, set in a 70 acre estate of landscaped lawns and rolling fields.
Explore Moore’s family home, Hoglands, and glimpse what life was like for the Moore family at Perry Green. See the extraordinary collection of artworks that Moore acquired during his lifetime, as well as the flints, bones and shells which inspired his work.
Experience the artist’s creative process in five fascinating indoor studios. See the origins of Moore’s monumental bronzes in the hundreds of small models (maquettes) that line the shelves of the Bourne Maquette Studio and visit the Plastic Studio to discover how the enlargement process transformed these models to full size sculptures.
In four further studios discover how Moore experimented with drawing and etching techniques and made beautiful carved sculptures from a range of stone and wood. The 16th century Aisled Barn, is the only place in the world where you can see Moore’s remarkable tapestries, which he commissioned specifically for this building.
