Courtyard Arts is a small but lively community arts centre on Port Vale in Hertford. We offer art classes for adults and children, alongside a busy ceramics studio and vibrant programme of changing exhibitions. We also have artists’ studios, a small cafe and a gift shop show-casing work by local artists. We run projects in the local community and outreach workshops.
In addition to the gallery at the Centre, Courtyard also curates the gallery at Hertford Theatre. Between the 2 galleries there are 3 shows every month. The galleries can be booked by artists for solo or group shows.
Other community groups use the Centre including a teenage drama class, a fitness group, writer’s circle and an art therapist.
Special needs are accommodated - the ground floor is wheelchair accessible with a disabled toilet and disabled parking immediately behind the Centre.
Courtyard Arts was founded in 1996, in a old stable block, by a group of enthusiastic local artists who wanted eveyone in the community to have access to art in a friendly environment, whatever their ability. We are a self-funded charity run by a small admin/management team supported by over 40 volunteers.
Opening hours Tuesday to Saturday 10 am to 4 pm.
