St Albans Cathedral stands over the place where Alban, Britain's First Saint, was buried after giving his life for his faith over 1700 years ago.

There are many unique sights to take in when you visit the Cathedral, plus an exciting program of events, tours, services and concerts, as well as activities for all the family. Our most popular historical highlights include the Shrine of St Alban, a site of national Pilgrimage, our 11th Century Bell Tower and our stunning medieval wall paintings, which are one of the oldest and most extensive set of medieval wall paintings surviving today. We also run free guided tours every day.

On site are also our newly refurbished Cathedral shop, and our refectory, the Abbot's Kitchen, which serves delicious lunches, afternoon teas, children's meals and refreshments.
