The King Stag is a family run Gastro pub in Bushey Village serving a wide range of tea’s, coffee and cake in the morning, food freshly cooked on site and served 7 days a week for lunch and dinner and selection of Craft Ale, Lager and Cider’s. Families are welcome and as are dogs. The King Stag recently won a regional prize for best dog friendly pub.
In January 2013 brothers-in-law Robert Beckley and David Warren decided to make their dream a reality and open a gastro pub in their home town. They wanted to create a community pub where local people could come at any time of day for a coffee or a pint or a meal — or all three. Serving fantastic food is a priority at The King Stag. Robert is an experienced chef who has worked with top names such as Mike North of the Nut Tree, Chris Barber (ex head chef of the Prince of Wales), Heston Blumenthal and Michel Roux Jr.
"Where our produce has come from is of vital importance to us. We make every effort to buy locally and from small businesses passionate about their product. We offer seasonal food consisting of proper pub grub through to Bistro style dishes. As well as our exciting range of local sourced ales, (all individually selected by Robert and David), there is a wide range of craft lagers and ciders available including cider from the Bottle Kicking Cider Company which is produced by Robert’s friend. There is also an extensive list of spirits and a new wine range to suit all tastes.
The pub also hosts regular events such as annual fireworks nights and beer festivals, as well as themed menus such as game week and burger night.
