Zaap Thai brings a slice of Bangkok to the streets of Nottingham. Zaap is like no other restaurant – if you’re lucky enough to have been to Thailand, then you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d left Nottingham and landed in the middle of a Bangkok street food market.
From passing ‘Passport Control’ at the entry (no passport required to enter though!) you’ll be taken on a tour of sights, sounds and, most importantly, the tastes of a Bangkok street food market.
From the cool street signs, the wonderful tuk tuks and the amazing (and sometimes downright wacky) pieces of Thai decorations and artwork that adorn their Nottingham restaurant, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped off the streets of this East Midlands city, into downtown Bangkok.
As you meander through the restaurant, you’ll pass through several different settings whilst, at your feet, are mock railway tracks, leading you to Mekhong Station and, what else, a full-size train cabin!
The food is no less authentic, so prepare your taste buds for an assault from the 4 key flavours of Thai street food – sweet, spicy, savoury and sour – that are in the 80+ dishes on our menu.
The menu features soups, salads, dim-sum dishes, nibbles, roasted mains and lots of other Thai street food classics. Watch out for the spicy dishes, that really do pack a punch, like Owner and Head Chef Ban Kaewkraikhot’s Som Tum Salad, which she made for Masterchef’s very own Greg Wallace, in a recent TV filming.
What’s more and, perhaps, not that well known, Thai food is extremely adaptable. So, whether you are vegetarian, vegan or need gluten free (or any other adapted dishes) the guys at Zaap can adapt lots of their fine dishes to suit your requirements.
