Balinakill Country House is the perfect exclusive use venue for special family and friend get-togethers, birthday and anniversary celebrations, holidays and weekends. We have also hosted some very special weddings and civil ceremonies.
Whatever the occasion, Balinakill will make the occasion special and memorable. Balinakill comes alive when full of people (of all ages!) enjoying themselves. Whether you want live music or a quiet ‘time out’ watching the sunset from the upstairs lounge, with a choice of welcoming and comfortable public rooms, we can cater for everyone.
The house nestles on a hillside in seven acres of peaceful grounds on the west side of the Kintyre Peninsula in Argyll, easily accessible by air, boat or road. This impressive victorian country house retains a wealth of period features and is set in mature gardens on the edge of the village of Clachan, one of the oldest settlements in Kintyre.
Balinakill has twelve en-suite bedrooms, an additional children’s play/bedroom, three large public rooms - two with open fires and one with a piano and pool table, a fully equipped country kitchen, a victorian dining room (with an open fire and silver candelabra and a table to seat up to 24) and a cosy gunroom bar with a wood burning stove. On arrival you will find the house warm with the fires and the stoves set. The rental includes all fuel, bed linen, towels and kitchen accessories together with a small selection of toiletries and cleaning materials.
Your own private bar is left empty for you to stock and run yourselves. There are always at least a few guests who love the novelty of running their own bar! The bar is well equipped and you will find everything you need including ice buckets, cocktail shakers, a bar fridge and glass washer. There are pipes for kegs of real ale and draft beer so ale drinkers can pull their own pints and have their barrel of choice delivered prior to arrival.
While the bar is often a magnet for those just wanting to chat over a drink, while the dining room allows everyone to sit down to a meal together before ceilidh dancing, partying or just enjoying being together in the oak room or upstairs lounge. A conservatory room overlooking the garden leads straight onto the barbecue area and is a light, bright room in which to relax or enjoy a game of pool or snooker.
The surrounding countryside is an area of outstanding natural beauty with stunning land and seascapes. There are numerous historical sites in the area including standing stones, ancient celtic buriel grounds and the remains of an impressive iron age fort within walking distance of Balinakill. The Kintyre Way - a 100 mile walk split into manageable sections - passes our door. Many visitors also enjoy water sports, fishing, riding, shooting, playing the numerous golf courses and visiting the nearby islands and local distilleries. We are happy to offer advice to help you plan your vist!
