Tucked away in an alley off the High St the Globe Inn is famous as being described by Robert Burns, Scotland's national bard, as having been his 'howff' (haunt) when he lived in and around Dumfries. The Howff today is much the same as it was when the poet was its honoured and favoured guest and here one can experience the the wonderful influence of the bard for it is here that his spirit lives on.One can tour the old kitchen, snug room, bedroom with window panes inscribed by the poet. The pub now offers the same hospitality with home cooking and real ales available to refresh the visitor.
