DR BEYNONS BUG FARM

Whether you are a bug enthusiast or looking for a fun day out with the family, we aim to enthuse, amaze and inspire.

As a research centre, working farm and visitor attraction, all of our displays are based on top quality science meaning that you get an experience truly like no other. The farm’s Milking Shed has been transformed into a Tropical Bug Zoo, a magical place where you can come face to face with some of the world’s most amazing bugs! From our Rosie the Tarantula to Robert the Rainbow Stag Beetle, the Zoo is home to a fascinating array of creatures that will amaze even the most seasoned entomologist.

The Bug Farm also offers Up Close sessions. As well as learning some more facts about these miniature superheroes, visitors can also handle some bugs! Whether it is a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach or a Giant Stick Insect, this is your chance to hold one of these remarkable creatures under the guidance of The Bug Farm team. Sessions are only £1 per person and are run at regular intervals through out the day.

The Bug Farm is also home to a Bug Museum. Stocked with stunning visual displays of pinned specimens, mind boggling facts and figures and a few surprises too, the Museum is a place that is sure to blow your mind!

Previously a bramble jungle, the farm’s beautiful Walled Garden is being lovingly and painstakingly restored to its former glory. The whole garden has been designed to benefit our native invertebrates so look out for butterflies, bees and beetles thriving amongst the flowers! Guided Bug Hunts through the summer season allows visitors to head out on the farm with Bug Farm staff to find and identify some of our native bug friends! From damselflies, to diving beetles, bees to butterflies, there are a whole host of creatures waiting to be discovered!

The Bug Farm Trail is one of a kind. Showcasing Pembrokeshire farming in small, bite size chunks, visitors can explore the award-winning wildflower meadows and learn how we can produce food and look after bugs and other wildlife at the same time. With arable crops, Welsh Black cattle and Welsh Mountain sheep all farmed onsite, The Bug Farm Trail gives a great insight into the food chain right from farm to fork!

For the children there is our Bug Barn! A big open barn, with a soft wood chip floor and things to climb over and play with, the Bug Barn is the perfect place for kids to run riot and let off some steam. Alongside this is a beautiful Art Gallery and arts and craft room. Youngsters can buy a craft item from the gift shop and take it back to the Art Gallery to make it, decorate it or build it! Perfect for a rainy day!

The Art Gallery also doubles as a lecture theatre and workshop room, so keep your eyes peeled for visiting experts, lectures and talks, and professional lead craft workshops.

If you fancy lunch, snacks or just coffee and cake you can indulge yourself at the famous Grub Kitchen! Situated at the The Bug Farm, Grub is the UK's first edible insect restaurant. Insects are always on the menu, although there are plenty of non buggy dishes too! From fresh local fish to conservation grade meat, and great veggie dishes too, Grub Kitchen uses local produce from the farm and the local area within innovative menus, deliciously demonstrating how you can eat more sustainably now, and for the future.

Situated just one mile from the stunning city of St Davids, The Bug Farm has a free car park, is dog friendly, is fully accessible and is a Quality Assured visitor attraction. We are open 10:30 - 16:30 on weekends year round and are also open everyday except Fridays during school holidays. Please contact us via info@thebugfarm.co.uk if you have any queries.
