From mid July to late October Freedom Whale Watch operates a 3/4 day whale watch tour in the calm waters of Hervey Bay. The tour takes in the sights of the western beaches of Fraser Island and the Great Sandy Straits. Hervey Bay is a very unique stopping point for the Humpbacks on their southern migration as they rest and play in the Bay rather than swim on by.
The tour includes fresh baked morning tea, tropical buffet lunch and cheese and fruit platters on the return journey. There is free WIFI available for sharing your whale watch experience with friends and family and you may even hear the whale song through our hydrophone. Courtesy transfers from most Hervey bay accommodation is available but you can also park nearby in the Great Sandy Strait Marina car park. our maximum passenger number is 49 and with three viewing levels plus a water level platform there is no problem with getting a wonderful view of the playful whales.
July and Ausgust is the time to see the younger juvenile and sub-adult whales which like to check out the boats and get quite active while in September and October you are more likely to see mothers and calves playing in the safe waters. Sightings are guaranteed from 1st August till 20 October but if for some unusual reason you do not see whales you receive a free return trip. A very rare occurrence.
From November to June Freedom III is available for private charters for family gatherings, birthdays, small weddings, hens or bucks parties. Activities include swimming off Fraser Island, boom-netting, fishing or dolphin watching. Lunch cruises, sunset cruises or overnight charters down the Great Sandy Straits are most enjoyable.
