The Lion is a Bar, Oven and Cellar; that is it has a bar serving everything from real ales to cocktails, a real wood-fired clay oven enabling the production of a whole variety of great food and an extensive wine cellar giving superior wines at great prices.
The Lion has a long history consisting of four buildings, now one, with the earliest dating from the 13th century and one of them being a guildhall. A lot of the features of the old buildings have been retained and enhanced during the comprehensive renovation.
The interior is open-plan with several seating areas including two terraces at the rear (one with a heated canopy) and the exquisite Hunt Room with a large open fire.
There is a wide choice of food available and the chefs are always seeking new ideas on what can be cooked in the wood-fired oven. There are always great choices of Pizza, Bavette Steak and Pasta available with some fantastic items on the Specials Menu. Don’t forget that we cook Sunday Roasts as well!
With easy access from the High Street, The Lion is the ideal place to meet friends, enjoy a coffee (maybe with a tasty pastry), have breakfast, lunch or dinner or to spend the evening enjoying some of the great collection of wines, spirits and beers on offer.
